Salvage Covers and Tarps
Salvage tarps are essential fire-fighting equipment. Salvage covers are used both to contain the spread of a blaze, and for salvage operations. Salvage operations are when firefighters engage in salvaging, or protecting, the assets of the homedweller from excess damage of water, fire, and smoke both during, and in the aftermath of a fire. Salvage covers are typically draped over furniture and equipment by firefighters who will expertly throw them over.
Salvage covers must be manufactured to meet specific fire-retardant properties to qualify as salvage covers that can be used in fire fighting situations. Tarps Wholesaler salvage tarps meet the CPAI Section 6 fire guidelines.
When a proper fire-retardant and waterproof tarp is used, families can return to their water and fire-damaged homes and find that precaution has been taken to ensure minimal irreversible damage. They will be eternally grateful to see many of their expensive or irreplaceable items intact.
Floor Hall Runners
Floor runners or hall runners can be made from damaged salvage covers, and cut to be floor covers of 3” wide to cover floors during overhaul activity.
Firefighters can also deploy the use of folding salvage covers into water catchers or chutes to maneuver the water out of the home. These fire-rated tarps can also be used to cover openings in buildings that should not be entered due to water or fire damage.
Care should be taken to preserve the fire-retardant salvage covers. Salvage covers should never be folded amid broken glass, and nails can be used through the grommet holes (not through the actual fabric) to hang it to dry.
Firefighters are the heroes of the community. With top-rated salvage covers, fire fighters can continue to bring salvation to people amidst destruction.
