Often, the strength of 6 mil fire retardant fabrics is required. As per construction codes, fire resistant sheeting can be used as vapor barriers in construction projects where fire retardant vapor barriers are necessitated. Fire sheeting material of 6 mil can be used in concrete, under wood floors, or between drywall and insulation. 6 mil plastic sheeting is a general-purpose plastic sheeting that can be applied to many applications, such as abatement dust barriers in asbestos removal, mold remediation, crawl space liners, etc.
Other common uses for 6 mil fire retardant plastic sheeting include shipping and packaging covers, lumber covers, cargo wraps, and the like. Although fire rated plastic sheeting isn’t always required, your assets will be further secured without the risk of immediate destruction in case of fire.
Our fire retardant sheeting is tested to meet industry fire standards. Without the added fire-retardant factor, the polyethylene sheeting would quickly catch fire, adding unnecessary fuel and unintentionally aid in the spreading of the fire. When our fire retardant plastic sheeting is exposed to fire, the additives interrupt the combustion process of normal polyethylene material. You can actually watch the fire struggle to latch itself on, and the time saved can be the difference of thousands of dollars and the loss of human lives.
